Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are an important part of conservation work across the country,
around the world, and in the Lake George watershed. The LGLC is actively seeking volunteers to assist with conservation efforts taking place in the Lake George basin. Please take a few minutes to complete the
volunteer form and return it to the LGLC. By letting us know your interests, we can match your specific interests with our needs as they arise and contact you with
the volunteer opportunities listed below:
Workdays – Help to keep our preserves in good order! Volunteers help in litter cleanups, boundary postings,
trail maintenance,
invasive plant inventory and removal,
and other activities. The work projects are normally one-half to one-full day in
length, on weekdays and weekends, and occur throughout the year. Leadership is
provided by a staff member or trained volunteer. We need your help on many
upcoming projects! Contact
us to volunteer now!
Preserve Stewards – Do you live close to one of the
LGLC's nature preserves? If so, and if you have a keen interest in that special place, please consider volunteering as a Preserve Steward. Preserve Stewards are valuable additions to our staff at the LGLC. These dedicated volunteers make long-term commitments to a preserve, using their time, energy, and love of the outdoors to check and maintain boundaries, trails, trail registers, and control invasive species. Specific duties of a Preserve Steward depend on the preserve and the person. If you have an interest in becoming a Preserve Steward, please contact the LGLC for details.
Office Volunteers – These brave souls are on a special-needs basis to help out with mailings, answering phones, organizing files, and other indoor projects.
Professional Services – We have a need for talented volunteers in the fields of illustration, writing, photography, computer programming, forestry, surveying, carpentry, botany, and even law. These volunteers are documented for future reference in the LGLC office and are called upon when special projects arise within their specific area of expertise.
Special Events – The LGLC is looking for volunteers to help with special events. Events range from evening galas to environmental education to public presentations. If you have a talent that can help the LGLC in these or other special events, please help us by volunteering your valued skills.
