Walk on Water to Dome Island

February 14 February 15

4905 Lake Shore Dr
Bolton Landing, New York 12814

Snowshoe, walk or ski across a mile of frozen Lake George to explore protected Dome Island and see the plaque that immortalizes John Apperson’s donation of the island for conservation in 1956.

Groups will leave from the LGLC office in Bolton Landing and walk a short distance down Rt. 9N to access the lake from Bixby Lane. From there, this exclusive 1-mile trek (2 miles round-trip) across the lake lasts about 2 hours and includes a brief history of the island, John Apperson, and conservation on Lake George.

There are two time slots for each date (each trip lasts about 2 hours):

  • Friday, Feb. 14, 10 am & 2 pm
  • Saturday Feb. 15, 10 am & 2 pm

For safety reasons, each is limited in number, though we may be able to expand the number of participants if the ice conditions allow. In order to ensure as many people as possible may participate, do not register for more than one of these slots please.

The Walk on Water is FULL. You may, however, sign up for the waiting list, which is used in case of cancellations or if we are able to add more people as ice thickness allows.

Please note that in order to ensure everyone’s safety, this event is highly dependent on suitable ice conditions and may be cancelled if the weather and/or ice is not sufficient for a safe event. Registration fee is non-refundable.
