Sorry, the Walk on Water is full, as is the waiting list. We are not accepting any additional registrations at this time.
Snowshoe, walk or ski across a mile of frozen Lake George to explore protected Dome Island and see the plaque that immortalizes John Apperson’s donation of the island for conservation in 1956.
Groups will leave from the LGLC office in Bolton Landing and walk a short distance down Rt. 9N to access the lake from Bixby Lane. From there, this exclusive 1-mile trek (2 miles round-trip) across the lake lasts about 2 hours and includes a brief history of the island, John Apperson, and conservation on Lake George.
There are four treks to choose from: (each trip lasts about 2 hours):
- Friday, Feb. 20 @ 10 am
- Friday, Feb. 20 @ 2 pm
- Saturday, Feb. 21 @ 10 am
- Saturday, Feb. 21 @ 2 pm
REGISTRATION: $10 per person (non-refundable)
For safety reasons, each is limited in number to 20 participants, though we may be able to expand the number of participants if the ice conditions allow. If full, you may add your name to our waiting list, and we will add people from there if the ice allows.
Sorry, dogs are NOT permitted to join the Walk on Water.
If Cancelled
In the case of cancellation due to unsafe ice conditions, we will offer a guided hike to registrants on Saturday, Feb. 21 at 10 a.m., to Bradley’s Lookout. From that overlook we can look down onto the lake and view Dome Island from above. More information will be shared, when/if appropriate.
