Olsen, Singer, Join LGLC Board

For Immediate Release: July 7, 2017

Bolton Landing, NY – The Lake George Land Conservancy (LGLC) is pleased to announce the recent addition of two new directors to its Board, Peg Olsen and Robert Singer.

“Peg and Rob bring an incredible amount of valuable experience to the LGLC,” said LGLC Executive Director Jamie Brown. “As past directors they already understand the mission and goals of the LGLC, but are coming to us with renewed energy. We are excited to have both Peg and Rob back to the Board and look forward to the years ahead.”

Peg Olsen’s history with the LGLC goes back to its origins. In the late 1980’s, Olsen was co-partner in the firm, Environmental Communication Services, Inc. of Troy, and was hired as a consultant by the Lake George Association Fund. Her initial task was to conduct a survey of landowners in the watershed with land over 10 acres to determine the desire and need for a local land trust. The response was strong enough that the Lake George Association Fund put together a separate board of directors and incorporated the LGLC in 1988.

During her year as consultant, Olsen also began speaking with landowners with a focus on implementing conservation easements, and completing the first conservation easement of the LGLC. Olsen continued her work with the LGLC as a board member, from 1989 to 2004, serving as treasurer from 1990 to 1996. She rejoined the LGLC as an advisory board member from 2012 to 2017.

Olsen has a Ph.D. in Ecological Economics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. She is currently the Vice President of Atlantic Flyway and International Programs for Audubon, working with field teams in developing and implementing large scale conservation projects aimed at full life cycle protection of priority birds and their habitat.

Before coming to Audubon, Olsen worked for The Nature Conservancy for 14 years—four years as Deputy Director of the Asia Pacific Region, where she had oversight for seven country programs and established the first program in Australia, and 10 years as director of the Eastern New York Chapter.

With over 20 years of experience in the outdoor sporting goods industry, Rob Singer is currently International Sales and Marketing Manager for Filmar Corporation, a manufacturer of winter sports accessories based in Montreal.

Singer also has a long history with the LGLC, having served on the Board of Directors from 2004 to 2016. He was Secretary of the organization from 2005 until 2016. He rejoins the Board after being an Advisory Board member since 2016.

Singer resides in Burlington, Vermont with his wife Jana and their children. His grandfather first came to Heart Bay in Ticonderoga with his family in 1941; Singer’s children represent the fourth generation of the family at Lake George. The kids spend their summers with their cousins and the children of Heart Bay neighbors whose parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents have over the years become long-time friends because of Lake George.
