In October of 2017, the LGLC’s inaugural Amy’s Race brought out 60 runners and the course was 5 miles long. The winner finished in 37 minutes and 30 seconds. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with runners commenting on the immense beauty of the preserve and the trail, the great organization of the volunteers and the overall amount of fun they had running the challenging course. The only request was to modify the course to be entirely on trails, which was implemented for this year’s Race.
Created to bring attention to the LGLC’s mission of protecting the land that protects the lake, the race also directly demonstrates the holistic benefits of conserving natural resources while also providing recreational opportunities. The event is organized and spearheaded by the LGLC’s Next Generation Committee (NextGen), a volunteer group of young professionals inspired by their love for Lake George and dedicated to created engaging events for its communities.
