Lake George Land Conservancy Expands Water Quality, Recreational Benefits in Bolton

Lake George, NY – The Lake George Land Conservancy (LGLC) has permanently protected 30 acres of forested land in the Town of Bolton that includes more than 350 feet of Huddle Brook.

“Between the forested stream corridor and steep slopes,” said LGLC Executive Director Mike Horn, “this is exactly the type of land that we need to protect for the long-term health of Lake George.”

In addition to providing permanent protection for Huddle Brook and the water quality of Lake George, the land provides important habitat connectivity for wildlife and potential recreational benefits.

The property is situated between the 213-acre Twin Pines property protected by the LGLC in 2019, the Town of Bolton’s Community Center, and The Pinnacle Preserve, which is owned by the Town of Bolton and protected by the LGLC with a conservation easement.

Because of its location, this land is identified as an important recreation connection within the Bolton Hub Recreational Plan, a collaborative strategy for land conservation and recreation produced for the Town of Bolton in partnership with the LGLC. The LGLC purchased the land to secure its future and prevent conversion to other uses. The LGLC is working with the Town of Bolton to identify how the property might be responsibly incorporated into the Town’s Bolton Hub recreation portfolio.
