LGLC LEADERSHIP
The Lake George Land Conservancy is able to carry out its mission thanks to its dedicated Staff and volunteer Board of Directors who are passionate about the protection of Lake George.
Helen has been working part-time for the LGLC since 2009. Her responsibilities include building relationships and fostering a legacy of giving back to the Lake George watershed. She has worked in the non-for-profit sector since graduating from Wheaton College, MA, in 1992. Helen grew up in a mix of Glens Falls, North Creek and Sabbath Day Point/Silver Bay, and now lives with her family in New Hampshire.
Helen Barton Benedict
Donor Relations Manager
Giulia joined the LGLC team in March of 2022. Her diverse background in hospitality and her adventurous spirit have led her around the world, but her heart always brings her back to the Lake George region. She graduated from SUNY Binghamton with degrees in environmental studies and economics. She lives in Queensbury where she enjoys gardening, hiking, yoga, and rock climbing.
Giulia Casella
Operations and Finance Manager
Megan began working part-time with the LGLC in 2009. She uses her attention to detail and great attitude to complete varied projects. As a traumatic brain injury (TBI) survivor, Meghan is interested in working within the available rehabilitation for TBI survivors after their intensive physical hospital needs are met. She graduated from Lake George High School and attended the University of Vermont in Burlington, VT.
Megan Clothier
Administrative Assistant
Monica joined the LGLC staff in the spring of 2018. She grew up south of Lake George but visited the area often as a kid to play ice hockey (go Adirondack Northstars!) and go for family hikes. Monica graduated from SUNY Oneonta with a Bachelor of Science in conservation biology and ecology. She likes hiking with her dogs Ruby and Gus-Boy, marveling at Adirondack carnivorous plants, baking super sweet desserts, and tending to her indoor garden.
Monica Dore
Conservation Project Manager
Sarah has been with the LGLC since October of 2003 (see our tribute page for her 20 years with the LGLC). She leads the LGLC’s communications and marketing efforts, and assists with outreach events and fundraising. Sarah also runs the LGLC’s annual Hike-A-Thon. She has a bachelor’s degree in biology and certificate in media arts. Sarah enjoys volunteering when she can, including as a coach for a local youth unified hiking club through Special Olympics NY.
Sarah Hoffman
Communications and Outreach Manager
Mike joined LGLC in January 2022. A love for the natural world and a passion for working with people motivate him to further the mission of LGLC. Mike received a BA in economics and business from Lafayette College, and two master’s degrees from the University of Michigan: M.S., natural resource and environmental policy from the School of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy, and MBA from the Stephen M. Ross School of Business. He and his family reside in Saratoga Springs.
Michael Horn
Executive Director
Alex joined LGLC in 2015 as an intern and soon became a full-time Land Steward. His position keeps him out of the office most days, walking boundaries, talking with landowners, taking care of 40 miles of trails, and managing invasive species. Outside of work he uses his passion for nature to fuel his love of writing music. Alex’s favorite part of the job is being a partner in the protection and stewardship of Lake George.
Alexander Novick
Land Steward
Janice joined the LGLC team in 2024 with experience from environmental commissions, teaching and volunteer coordination. Exploring the Lake George watershed has always been a passion and she is thrilled to now live in Silver Bay full time. Janice graduated with a biology major from Wittenberg University. You can find her paddle boarding, kayaking, swimming, hiking, and smiling.
Janice Reynen
Events and Fundraising Coordinator
Leah joined the LGLC as a seasonal staff member in the fall of 2023 and started full-time in the spring of 2024. She graduated from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry with a Bachelor of Science in forest health. Hiking around Lake George as a child ignited her love of nature. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, running, skiing, and traveling.
