Our Mission

The LGLC’s Next Generation (Next Gen) Committee is a volunteer group of young people who are passionate about protecting the land and the lake and are committed to organizing innovative events for the Conservancy and for the communities surrounding Lake George.

The Next Gen Committee welcomes all young people that have a passion for the Lake George watershed and for connecting our community with the LGLC. Currently, the Committee manages and holds two annual events: the Summer Solstice in June and Amy’s Adventure in October. Committee members are expected to attend a minimum of four annual meetings, held both in person and remotely, in order to maintain good standing with the group.

The Committee formed in the April of 2017 when a small group of current members expressed their interest in our work/mission and their desire for some fresh ideas and events to get more people engaged. Since then, the Committee has grown to 17 members, held 5 events and grossed almost $15,000 in fundraising for the LGLC and more recently, for the Bolton Hub Recreational Initiative and the Wiawaka Uplands project through their events.

The Committee meets every second Wednesday of the month to brainstorm new ways to engage people that may be interested to learn more about the Conservancy, the lands around the lake and the ways that they can be more involved in our communities. The Committee is also a great way to meet other like-minded people in our area who are passionate about the lake!
